Top revenue contributor honoured in Sonitpur

Public meeting commends Muda Dol mouja’s achievement

BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 19: The state government’s recent initiative for land revenue collection saw Sonitpur district achieving significant success, with Muda Dol mouja emerging as the top contributor to revenue collection in the district. This accomplishment was celebrated with a public meeting held at the office of the moujadar of Muda Dol mouja located in Tupiya on Sunday. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika graced the occasion as the chief guest and extended felicitations to Heremba Bhagawati, the moujadar of Muda Dol mouja.

MLA Hazarika commended moujadar Bhagawati for his remarkable achievement in collecting the highest revenue within the stipulated time, despite facing physical challenges. The event was attended by Sujata Goswami, the circle officer of Naduar revenue circle, moujadars from neighbouring areas, and village headmen under Naduar revenue circle.

During the session, moujadar Bhagawati highlighted the plight of downtrodden individuals who struggle to pay their land revenue. He revealed that he personally made payments on behalf of such people up to the year 2024. He urged village headmen to identify impoverished individuals and extend assistance to them in their respective areas. Additionally, Bhagawati drew attention to land-related issues faced by certain educational institutions under his jurisdiction, appealing to the state government and concerned departments to address these matters.

The meeting was efficiently conducted by Shailen Borkataky, the moujadar of Shilabandha mouja, and served as a platform to acknowledge the significant contribution of Muda Dol mouja to land revenue collection and discuss ways to support vulnerable individuals and resolve land-related issues in the region.
