Former MCLA of BTC and Chirang district UPPL president, Nirmal Kumar Brahma, has been declared the UPPL candidate, backed by the NDA alliance. Brahma expressed confidence in winning the by-election, stating that people from all sections of society are coming forward to support the NDA alliance candidate.

The Opposition BPF party announced Suddha Kumar Basumatary as its candidate for the upcoming Sidli LAC by-election. Notably, Basumatary, who is the BPF vice president and a well-known businessman in the area, has been nominated as the party’s candidate. BPF president Hagrama Mohilary declared Basumatary the official candidate, and the party expressed confidence in winning the by-election.

The Congress party declared Sanjib Wary, president of the Chirang district Congress committee, as its candidate for the upcoming Sidli LAC by-election.

It is worth mentioning that there will be a triangular electioneering contest in the Sidli LAC by-election.

The by-election has been necessitated due to the resignation of MLA Joyanta Basumatary after being elected to the Lok Sabha from Kokrajhar HPC in June.

Meanwhile, the district administration of Chirang has prepared the necessary strategies to conduct the by-election smoothly. More than 216,000 voters will exercise their democratic rights in 273 polling stations in Sidli LAC during the by-election on November 13. The counting of votes will take place on November 23.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of the Bodoland Territorial Region and UPPL president, stated that the five NDA alliance candidates, including the UPPL candidate for Sidli LAC, are expected to have the last laugh in the by-elections in Assam. He noted that the governments of BTR and Assam have been rendering relentless services toward the welfare and development of the common masses across the region since the inception of the BTR administration.

He further stated that people across communities are extending support to the UPPL candidate backed by the NDA alliance, as citizens have faith in the BTR government and the UPPL party. He added that the Opposition’s “attractive magic” has become irrelevant among the citizens in the Bodoland region, with the masses expressing their willingness to support the NDA alliance-backed candidate, Nirmal Kumar Brahma, in the by-election.
