KOKRAJHAR, July 10: The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) expresses profound condolences over the passing of Manjit Mahanta, an esteemed journalist and politician. Mahanta passed away on Monday morning at a hospital in Guwahati after a brief illness.

Notably, Mahanta served as the chairman of the media department of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. He had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Guwahati for a few days and breathed his last around 2:00 am on Monday morning.
Mahanta was a distinguished journalist within the state and held the position of editor in chief at various daily newspapers and TV news channels during his career. His demise is a significant loss for the state.
The UPPL party extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and shares in their grief.
“We express our deepest sorrow and condolences to the bereaved family members and offer our prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul,” stated the UPPL party.
