HAFLONG, Dec 26: The Sikh community of Haflong and Dima Hasao commemorated Veer Bal Diwas with reverence on Thursday, remembering the unparalleled sacrifices of Sahibzada Fateh Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji along with honouring Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

The event was graced by BJP Dima Hasao president Golonjo Thaosen, MAC Liton Chakraborty and other dignitaries who highlighted the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the need to preserve the values of equality and humanity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often highlighted the significance of this observance.

“Veer Bal Diwas will remind us of the immense contribution of ten Sikh Gurus and the sacrifice of the Sikh tradition for protecting the honor of the nation,” PM Modi said.

Representatives of the Sikh community, Gyani Kuljeet Singh and Nirmal Singh, secretary of Sri Guru Singh Sabha spoke about the sacrifices of all ten Sikh Gurus. They extended their best wishes to the people of Dima Hasao, advocating for peace, prosperity and happiness while urging adherence to the values of righteousness and service to humanity.

Veer Bal Diwas is observed annually on December 26 as a tribute to the immense bravery of the Sahibzadas and the teachings of the Sikh Gurus. It serves as a profound reminder of their resilience and commitment to justice and equality.

The day particularly honors the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji, who were imprisoned and pressured to renounce their faith. Despite their young age, they stood firm in their beliefs and were ultimately martyred, being bricked alive for refusing to compromise on their principles.

The event concluded with heartfelt prayers, Veer Bal Diwas served as a profound reminder of the resilience and spiritual legacy of the Sikh Gurus, inspiring all to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and faith.
