Amritsar, March 30: A tragic incident unfolded in Punjab last week when a 10-year-old girl named Manvi died from suspected food poisoning after consuming a cake on her birthday.
The entire family, including her younger sister, also fell ill after partaking in the cake, which was ordered online from a Patiala-based bakery ‘Cake Kanha’. Manvi’s grandfather, Harban Lal, shared that the family started experiencing symptoms of sickness just a few hours after the birthday celebration.
Manvi herself experienced severe thirst and dryness in her mouth before her condition worsened. Despite being rushed to the hospital and given medical attention, including oxygen support and an ECG, the young girl could not be saved.
The family has since filed an FIR against the bakery owner, alleging that the cake contained a poisonous substance. Postmortem and cake sample tests have been conducted, with results still awaited.
