Guwahati, Oct 25: Ferry services connecting the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati are set to recommence on Thursday, according to reports.
The operations were previously halted due to a decrease in the river’s water levels, which hindered the ferries’ navigation.
The Inland Water Transport Department (IWTA) had released a notification on Tuesday, announcing the temporary suspension of the ferry services.
This was also due to the immersion of idols marking the end of Durga Puja celebrations across the state, carried out by several puja organising committees. The absence of jetties further necessitated the suspension of the ferry services.
