117 AMRS Hojai students qualify for IOQM 2024

NAGAON, Oct 16: A total of 117 students from Ajmal Modern Residential School (AMRS), Hojai have cracked the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) – 2024, conducted by the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India) [MTA(I)] in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai, on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), government of India.

The IOQM, popularly known as PRMO, saw over 231 candidates from Category – A (classes 8, 9, 10 & 11) and girls, covering the entire regions of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, selected to appear for the Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO). Among them, 117 students are from AMRS, Hojai, accounting for more than 50 percent. This significant achievement has brought laurels to AMRS, Ajmal Super 40, and the Ajmal Foundation.  

The program aims to identify and nurture mathematical talent among pre-university students across the country, leading to the participation of Indian students in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).  

The principal of AMRS, Areef Ahmed, expressed his immense satisfaction and congratulated all the successful students, parents, and teachers, with special gratitude to the IOQM coordinator of AMRS, Mir Mukul Ali, who is also an eminent mathematics teacher.  

The Managing Trustees of the Ajmal Foundation, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal and Sirajuddin Ajmal, MLA Binnakandi, along with Dr Khasrul Islam, director, Ajmal Foundation; Dr MRH Azad, general manager, Ajmal Foundation; and Abdul Kadir, project head, Ajmal Super 40, extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the successful students, parents, teachers, the coordinator, and principal Areef Ahmed for bringing such accolades to AMRS, Hojai, a press note added.
