DEMOW, May 12: The BJP-led alliance has swept the Panchayat Elections in the 95 No Demow Constituency, as the vote counting concluded on May 12 (Monday) at Demow College, following the polling on May 11 (Sunday).
According to official data, Demow Co-District comprises 171,648 voters, 4 Zilla Parishad Constituencies, 28 Gaon Panchayats, and 2 Anchalik Panchayats. The BJP-led alliance emerged victorious across all major levels.
Zilla Parishad Seats (4): Anima Chungkrang (BJP-supported) — Nitai Panidehing ZPC, Sudhir Munda (BJP-supported) — Demow ZPC, Swapna Gharphalia (BJP-supported) — Bokota Lakwa ZPC, Ghana Gogoi (AGP-supported) — Khelua ZPC
Ward Members: BJP-led alliance: 271 wards, INC-supported: 16 wards, Raijor Dal-supported: 2 wards
Anchalik Panchayat Members: BJP-led alliance: 25 members
Raijor Dal-supported: 1 member
This resounding victory for the ruling alliance reflects the continuing stronghold of the BJP and its allies, including the AGP, in the region. Meanwhile, opposition parties like the INC and Raijor Dal secured only a marginal presence in the constituency.
The election outcome in Demow further reinforces the BJP-led alliance’s momentum ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly polls.
