Longkam Teron Death Anniversary Observed

BOKAJAN, June 30: The 12th death anniversary of noted litterateur and founding president of Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA), Karbi literary body, Longkam Teron was observed jointly by KLA, Nihang Donsuri Longri Amei and Rongthelu, KLA at Rongthelu LP School on June 29.

The observation started with the lighting of lamps and offering of flowers on the portrait of late Longkam Teron led by Sarkari Goan Bura, Khoyasing Teron.

It was followed by a meeting, which was presided over by Tushewar Terang. The objective of the meeting was explained by secretary, KLA, Nihang Donsuri Longri Amei, Samprikimi Phangcho.

In the meeting Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Surjyo Rongphar; former president, KLA, Sing Kro and advisor, Liladhar Teron spoke about the contribution of late Longkam Teron in the development and promotion of the Karbi literature and his association with the Asom Sahitya Sabha (ASS). Late Teron was also the former vice president of ASS.

According to EM Rongphar, the 32nd annual conference of the KLA will be held in Rongthelu in 2024, and preparations for this have begun.

On the occasion, story writing and poem recitation was organised in the name of late Longkam Teron.

The programme was attended by Karbi Cultural Society, advisor Humsing Bey; VDC chairman, Mongal Sing Hanse and others.
