1 Arrested, Heroin Worth Over Rs 3 Crores Seized In Karbi Anglong

Bokajan, Sept 25: The police on Monday arrested one person and seized 583.08 grams of heroin worth over Rs 3 crores from him at Kara Gaon in Karbi Anglong.

Based on specific information in the early hours of Monday, a team of police led by SI (P) Swmdwn Swargiary along with ASI Juwel Gogoi and Ravi Gill, assistant commandant of CRPF Bokajan apprehended a person near Kara Gaon that is located at about 150 metres towards Balijan area under the Khatkhati Police Station.

The accused was reportedly going towards Balijan on foot with a plastic bag when the police stopped him. 47 soap boxes containing 583.08 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.

The person has been identified as Samsul Haque (43 year), son of late Sokat Ali. He is a resident of Guashpur village in Karimganj district.

Seizure was done under the supervision of ASP (S) and independent witnesses. Seized items were sealed at the spot in presence of independent witnesses, Sankar Bishwakarm, and Ravi Thapa. Both are residents of Karagaon in Karbi Anglong. The signature of the witnesses, accused, seizing officer and GOs are taken on the spot following all the procedures of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The police have registered a case against the accused.
