JORHAT, Jan 5: A total of 200 people from several political parties joined the Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal during a public meeting held at Kaliapani Block Tiniali, Teok, under the Mariani assembly constituency.
The public meeting was attended by Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi.
Addressing the gathering, Gogoi stated that people joined Raijor Dal because they were inspired by the party’s ideals.
“The party plans to field candidates from the Mariani constituency in the 2026 assembly elections. Raijor Dal aims to be part of the government after defeating the BJP in 2026,” he added.
Gogoi promised that if the party becomes part of the government, it would focus on providing irrigation for all agricultural lands to enable year-round cultivation and would advocate for a minimum support price for the produce.
“Another priority would be establishing an industrial unit in every village in the state and making the state one of the top tourist destinations in the country,” he said.
The meeting was presided over by Pradip Sarkar, president of the Jorhat district unit of Raijor Dal, and was also attended by the party’s Central Committee secretary and Mariani in-charge, Debango Saurav Gogoi, and Central Committee organisational secretary Biswajit Baruah, among others.
