84 New Dengue Cases In State

GUWAHATI, Sept 1: Dengue cases continue to surge in Assam with 84 new cases reported on Friday. Among the worst-hit areas, Karbi Anglong East reported 57 confirmed cases. In total, the state has reported 4,475 positive dengue cases this year, with four fatalities.

On a more positive note, there has been a significant decrease in Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases this year. Only four cases of JE were reported on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in 2023 to 476, with 31 fatalities. This marks a substantial reduction in deaths compared to the previous year when 86 people died from JE.

Additionally, the state has recorded 297 cases of malaria in 2023, with no reported deaths. Three cases of malaria were reported on Friday.

Health authorities are actively monitoring and responding to these vector-borne diseases across the state.
