DONGKAMUKAM, June 5: Severe heat waves have hit West Karbi Anglong for the past week. It is said to have reached 40 degrees Celsius in the last two days, while in the week’s first two days it was 38.5 to 39.

The constant heat wave is likely to remain the same in coming days or may flare up, bringing danger to human life, as there was no sign of a rain signal given by the Meteorological Department.

The authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has issued a government-run LP school to open schools from 7.30 am in the morning until 12.30 noon this month due to severe heat, but the public of the area is gossiping about the same order being issued to the ME section of the government-run schools.
