Hojai, Oct 29: A dacoit identified as Saidul Alam suffered serious bullet injuries following a police encounter in Assam’s Hojai district, according to reports that surfaced on Sunday.
The incident took place at Kopahbari, within the jurisdiction of the Murajhar Police Station. While attempting to apprehend Alam, who was on a motorbike, Hojai Police ordered him to stop. Alam, sensing the imminent threat of capture, opened fire on the police.

The police retaliated by firing multiple rounds at the dacoit, resulting in bullet injuries to both of Alam’s legs.
Alam is currently receiving medical care at the Haji Abdul Majid Memmorial Hospital & Research Centre in Hojai. Reports also indicate that a 7.65 mm pistol was found in Alam’s possession.
