Assam soon to get National centre of excellence for Badminton

Assam will soon get its very own national centre of excellence for badminton in Guwahati with top class support facilities and highly experienced coaches.

August 3,2023: The government of Assam and the Badminton association of India has decided to establish a National Centre of Excellence for Badminton in the Amingaon Indoor Stadium at Guwahati by signing an MoU. It is implemented with the intentions to promote excellence in the field of Badminton and to promote local and national talent and prepare them for a brighter future. The centre is to have world class infrastructure and facilities with top class and highly experienced National and International coaches. Admissions to the centre will be guided by BAI procedures on the condition that 50% of intake will be from Assam subject to fulfillment of other conditions , however maintaining a benchmark of 30% intake of Assam.
Sports and Youth Welfare Department,Assam will be handling the operations and management while technical part will be handled by BAI.
The information of the upcoming project was shared by the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sharma through his Twitter account.
