DEMOW, June 12: Under the patronage of Khongia sub-branch and primary units, in association with tea estate labourers, a protest program was conducted in front of the Khongia Tea Estate office on Monday. The program aimed to highlight and address various demands put forth by the labourers. Among their demands were the development of treatment services within the tea estate, improvement of hospital infrastructure, and an increase in the daily wage of tea laborers to Rs 351, among others.
Following the protest, a memorandum outlining their demands was submitted to the Khongia Tea Estate manager. The labourers also submitted a copy of the memorandum to the assistant labour commissioner of Sivasagar, the Demow circle officer, and the president/secretary of ATTSA Central Committee on the same day.
