BOKAJAN, June 4: Renowned child dancer and third-place winner of Britain’s Got Talent, Binita Chetry, was felicitated by the Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Bokajan Regional Committee in a heartwarming ceremony held at her residence in Talbalijan, Bokajan on Wednesday.
A delegation led by AJYCP regional president Sandip Saikia visited the home of the nine-year-old prodigy, where they honoured her with a memento, a phulam gamusa, a Karbi traditional turban, seleng, and a japee—symbolic tokens of Assamese pride and culture.
Binita, the daughter of Amar Chetry and Nitu Chetry, made history by securing a place among the top three contestants in the globally acclaimed reality show, and was widely applauded for her unique blend of dance and martial arts-inspired moves.
She returned to Bokajan on June 3 after being personally congratulated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, marking a proud moment for her family and the entire region.
The AJYCP’s felicitation reflects the growing recognition of young talents from Assam on international platforms and encourages cultural and artistic pursuits among the youth.
