BTCLA Speaker Katiram Boro inaugurates training on tribal languages for ACS officers

The training program aims to enhance administrative skills & cultural understanding among the officers

KOKRAJHAR, July 16: A four-week training program on the administration of Sixth Schedule areas and tribal languages such as Bodo and Mising for Assam Civil Services (ACS) officers of the 2024 batch commenced on Tuesday at the Bodoland Administrative Staff College (BASC), Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari in Kokrajhar.

A total of 82 ACS officers from the 2024 batch, including three from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), are participating in the training program. The event, conducted in collaboration with the government of Assam and the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), aims to train ACS officers from across the state, focusing particularly on tribal languages like Bodo and Mising.

The training program was ceremonially inaugurated by Katiram Boro, Speaker of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA), in the presence of Akash Deep, BTC principal secretary; Dhiraj Saud, BTC secretary & course director; Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, district commissioner of Kokrajhar; and several other government officials.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Speaker Katiram Boro praised the initiative to provide tribal language training to ACS officers, marking a significant step forward in enhancing administrative capabilities and promoting cultural understanding. He emphasised the importance of this training in the context of the BTR peace accord of 2020, highlighting the establishment of the Bodoland Administrative Staff College as a milestone achievement.

“It was a great pleasure to attend the inaugural ceremony of the 4-week training program on administration of Sixth Schedule areas and tribal languages (Bodo & Mising) for ACS officers of the 2024 batch, sponsored by the government of Assam at BASC, Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar,” said Boro. “This initiative reflects our commitment to strengthening administrative capacities and promoting cultural harmony in Assam.”
