CEM of NCHAC provides financial assistance

GUWAHATI, Dec 14: Chief Executive Member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Debolal Garsola provided financial assistance to beneficiaries whose properties were destroyed by storm or flood during the last disaster, said an official statement on Saturday.

The programme was held a Haflong Government College Auditorium Hall.

Self Help groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) were also benefitted with financial assistance in-order to help them boost their enterprises.

“A total amount of Rs 9, 25, 55, 083 is being distributed to as many as 3012 beneficiaries as financial assistance to those who had property loss during last disaster under veterinary, agriculture, fishery including house damages,” the statement added.

Under the Seed capital provision to ASRLM and ASULM SHG women, as many as 151 beneficiaries from Dima Hasao are benefitted. This scheme give special assistance to SHG members in terms of ‘Seed Capital Support’ wherein financial support up to Rs 40, 000/- per member is provided to enable SHG women to involve themselves in food processing to procure small tools, equipment and raw materials.

 “Eventually, their business volume will be scaled up and they will be formalized by way of credit support from bank, giving technical support, providing licensing and registration, extending market linkages,” the statement quoted the district commissioner Simanta Kumar Das as saying.   

Lauding the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gorlosa said that the country as well as the state is developing and the district of Dima Hasao has seen tremendous changes in recent time under both central and state governments.

“I am confident that the district is in safe hands and it’s proceeding in the right direction with the support of the public and good team at the council,” he added.

Others present during the programme were executive members of NCHAC Donphainon Thaosen, Niranjan Hojai, member of autonomous council Projit Hojai, district president of BJP party.
