CM Sarma campaigns for NDA candidate Joyanta Basumatary at Manas

KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 27: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday campaigned for NDA candidate Joyanta Basumatary at the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency ahead of the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

The third phase will be held on may 7 for four Lok Sabha constituencies of Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta and Guwahati.

Sarma addressed a meeting held at the Bashbari under Manas Legislative Assembly constuituency in support of the NDA alliance (BJP, AGP, UPPL) candidate. He was accompanied by cabinet ministers Ranjit Kumar Dass, Urkhao Gwra Brahma and the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro.

Over 20,000 party supporters, workers and well wishers attended the programme and extended support to the NDA candidate Basumatary in Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.

CM Sarma was accorded a warm welcome and felicitated with a traditional Aronai, Phulam Gamocha, Adivashi traditional Ponshi on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sarma said, “People’s grand participation and extensive support to the NDA alliance candidate is a sign of their faith in the BJP government that has been working towards the welfare and development of the common masses in the region.”

“The NDA alliance’s more than 12 candidates, who are contesting the Lok Sabha polls from various constituencies including, Kokrajhar will win the elections in a massive margin of votes. The NDA alliance government in the state and government of Bodoland Territorial Region are committed to work for all round development of the citizens,” he said.

“It is a glad moment to be witness the grand public gathering. Every class of society is now a member of the Modi family. Manas is a true gift of nature and we are undertaking all necessary steps to boost its growth through sustainable tourism and enhanced connectivity,” the chief minister further said.

CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro said that people have come forward to extend their support to the NDA alliance candidates. He said that the BTR and state governments are together rendering relentless services towards the ushering of sustainable development and welfare of the citizens.
