DC Varnali Deka inspires girls from Girl Empowerment Mission

Kokrajhar, July 19: Varnali Deka, IAS, district commissioner of Kokrajhar, engaged in an interactive session with the 40 girls from the 2023 batch of NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati’s Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) as part of the ‘Meet the Role Models’ initiative. The event included an educational tour of the district commissioner’s office.

During the hour-long interaction at her office, Deka commended the girls for their impressive presentations on various subjects, as well as their singing and poem recitation talents. She also took the opportunity to inquire about their future aspirations and goals. The presence of Kabita Deka, ACS, ADC, Kokrajhar, S Bora, ACS, ADC, Kokrajhar, and Rituparna Das, ACS, circle officer, further enriched the discussion as they shared insights into their roles in maintaining law and order in the district. The ADCs encouraged the girls to believe in themselves and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Later, Deka emphasised the importance of having a life purpose and the commitment required to become a civil servant. She tested the girls with questions and rewarded those who answered correctly with tokens of appreciation. The visit left the children inspired, and they expressed gratitude to DC Deka for her valuable time. Deka also acknowledged NTPC for their commendable initiative.

The event was attended by AK Singh, AGM (Operations), Madhurjya Singha Lahkar, senior manager (HR-Corporate Communications), Saurav Kumar, senior manager (HR), Aduity Thakuri, CSR executive of the station, and faculty members from Hero Mind Mine, who were present to support the occasion.
