SIVASAGAR, May 12: The Dibrugarh University has formally conferred the Doctorate of Literature degree on Padma Shri Imran Shah in his residence at Dhai Ali in Sivasagar.
A group of professors led by the university’s registrar, Paramananda Sonowal and former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha, Prahlad Tassa handed him the degree at his residence on Saturday. The certificate and citation was handed over to the litterateur by prpfessor and head of the department of sociology, Deva Kumar Chakravarty, deputy registrar, Arijit Hazarikar, Rohini Borgohain and former secretary general of Sahitya Sabha, Jagadish Patgiri. The meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Jyoti  Prasad Saikia, professor of the department of sociology.
Shah expressed his gratitude on receiving the highest degree from the university. He said that their generation had put in a lot of effort to produce literary works to enrich Assamese literature. The present generation, he said, has already an enriched environment and their job is to create more and scale higher on literary echelon.
