TEZPUR, March 21: The monthly meeting of the District Development Committee of Sonitpur was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Ankur Bharali in the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Sonitpur. Opening the meeting, District Commissioner Bharali welcomed all stakeholders and emphasized the importance of this monthly review in enhancing government service delivery, assessing the status of flagship government programs, and ensuring interdepartmental coordination where necessary.
During the meeting, he directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to submit a list of completed Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes along with relevant details at the earliest, following which the district administration will inspect these schemes. He also reviewed the status of Phase II applications under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) from the District Industries & Commerce Centre (DICC). The District Commissioner also stressed the need to expedite work on Model Anganwadi Centres. Addressing the Health Department, he inquired about the district’s focus on TB elimination, and the monitoring and review of Model Hospitals concerning manpower and infrastructure.
Other key discussions included the electrification of the under-construction District Library and the progress of Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID registration in the district. The committee also reviewed various aspects of the Swachh Bharat Mission, particularly toilet construction and efficient waste collection management. Additionally, discussions covered flagship programs under various departments, as well as revenue collection by the Transport, Excise, and Tax departments.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Lakhinandan Saharia, Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli Dyotva Bora, Co-District Commissioner of Naduar Raj Boruah, Additional District Commissioner Kabita Kakati Konwar, along with heads of departments of the district administration and other concerned officials.
