Ex-MLA Derhagra Mochahary remembered in TamulpurĀ

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 7: A memorial lecture on the contribution and dedicated life to the service and welfare of the Bodo community of late Derhagra Mochahary, former MLA of Tamulpur LAC, was held at his Tamulpur residence in Tamulpur district on Tuesday.

Notably, Mochahary who was regarded as a renowned social worker as well as a selfless and tireless public service in the greater Tamulpur area and Bodo community at large passed away in September last year (2024) after a prolonged illness.

During the event, a ā€œGwswkhangthi Bijabā€, a commemorative book chronicling his life, legacy, and contributions to society was also released amidst the presence of several distinguished dignitaries.

CEM Boro recalled contributions and dedication of Mochahary, who was a well-known social worker and former MLA of Tamulpur LAC.

He had held the well-known social thinker and rendered his endless services towards the welfare and uplift of the greater Tamulpur area as well welfare of the Bodo community as a whole in his life.

He also said that the people of the greater Tamulpur area celebrated the remarkable journey and lasting impact of Mochahary in the region.

ā€œLate Derhagra Mochahary, dedicated his life to the service and welfare of the people of Tamulpur and Bodo society at large. His passing in September last year marked the end of an era of selfless and tireless public serviceā€, he said.

ā€œIn his memory, today I joined Shri Biswajit Daimary, Honā€™ble Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, MLA Shri Jolen Daimary, MCLA Shri Bijit Gwra Narzary and a host of dignitaries in releasing ā€œGwswkhangthi Bijabā€, a commemorative book chronicling his life, legacy, and contributions to society. The event where we celebrated his remarkable journey and lasting impact on the regionā€, Boro added.
