MARGHERITA, July 5: A joint excise search, patrolling, and raid were carried out by the Margherita and Digboi Excise Party on Monday evening. The operation took place at various locations, including Salikabasti, Itakhola, Makumpathar, and roadside hotels and dhabas near NH-315 road in Margherita.

During the search operation, a total of 5 cases were detected. The authorities seized and destroyed approximately 150 liters of fermented wash, around 20 liters of illicit distilled liquor, and 2.37 BL (Bottles and Liters) of IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) meant for sale in Assam only.
As a result of the operation, two individuals were arrested under Section 61(B)(a) of the Assam Excise Act 2000, as amended. This action highlights the authorities’ commitment to combating illegal activities related to the production and sale of alcohol in the region.
