MARGHERITA, Feb 19: A joint excise search, patrolling, and raid duty were conducted on Sunday by the Margherita and Digboi Excise Party under the supervision of Prasanta Dutta, DSE Margherita. The excise raids were conducted at Baruah Grant, Mirikamajuli, Powaimukh, Tipong, Ledo (roadside hotels), and Margherita town, which fall under Margherita and Lekhapani Police Stations of Tinsukia district. A total of 7 cases were detected, and the excise team seized and destroyed illicit distilled liquor (35 litres), fermented (1950 litres), and 1 DA set. During the raid, 3 persons were apprehended under Section 61(B)(a) of the Assam Excise Act.
