Excise raid at Margherita

MARGHERITA, March 10: A joint excise search, patrolling, and raid were conducted by Margherita and Digboi Excise Party on Saturday evening in Tengapathar, Margherita Dehing Tea Estate Natun Line, and Bargolai, which fall under Margherita Police Station in Tinsukia district.

A naka checking duty was also carried out by the team on Saturday at Namchik (Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border), where a total of 50 vehicles were checked.

During the raid, a total of 3 cases were detected, and the excise team seized and destroyed 65 liters of illicit distilled liquor.

During the excise raid, one person was apprehended under Section 61(B)(a) of AE Act 2000 as amended, and the cases were registered under Section 53(1)(a). The case has been forwarded to Margherita Subdivisional Judicial Magistrate Court.
