GUWAHATI, Sept 8: In a continuous effort to maintain the supply of essential and other commodities, the Northeast Frontier Railway achieved a significant milestone by unloading 1204 freight carrying rakes during the month of August this year. From April to August 2023, within the jurisdiction of NF Railway, a total of 5651 freight carrying rakes were successfully unloaded.
This commendable achievement reflects the efficient transportation of goods such as FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, fertiliser, cement, coal, automobiles, containers, and various other items during the month. These items were then unloaded in different goods sheds within the railway’s jurisdiction.
During August 2023, the breakdown of unloaded freight rakes in various states is as follows: 680 rakes in Assam (including 332 loaded with essential commodities), 98 in Tripura, 19 in Nagaland, 10 in Manipur, 8 in Arunachal Pradesh, 3 in Mizoram, and 01 in Meghalaya. Furthermore, 218 freight rakes were unloaded in West Bengal, and 167 freight rakes in Bihar were also part of this substantial achievement within the jurisdiction of NF Railway.
This continuous transportation of essential and other commodities plays a pivotal role in meeting the requirements of common people and sustaining the local economic activities in all regions. The expedited execution of doubling works in crucial sections across NF Railway has led to the heightened flow of freight traffic, further contributing to this success.
