BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 25: Assam Revenue, Disaster Management, Science & Technology, and Information Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta chaired a high-level review meeting today with senior officials of Biswanath district administration to assess disaster preparedness ahead of the monsoon season.
Held at the District Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall, the meeting focused on evaluating flood readiness across the district, with special attention to Gohpur, a flood-prone region. The Minister directed the district administration to take proactive and comprehensive measures to mitigate the potential impact of floods, stressing full preparedness and inter-departmental coordination.
Separate Review of Mission Basundhara 3.0
In a subsequent session, Minister Mahanta also reviewed the progress of the Mission Basundhara 3.0 land reform initiative in Biswanath district. He discussed the pace and challenges of implementation with key officials and instructed the administration to expedite the delivery of services under the scheme, which aims to resolve land-related issues through streamlined governance and digital tools.

The meetings were attended by several key dignitaries and officials, including:Ranjit Dutta, MP, Sonitpur Lok Sabha constituency, Pramod Borthakur, MLA, Biswanath, Utpal Bora, MLA, Gohpur and Diganta Ghatowal, MLA, Behali among mothers.
Also present were officials from departments including PWD (Roads and Housing), Water Resources, NDRF, SDRF, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Health, Public Health Engineering, Fisheries, and Agriculture.
The review underscored the importance of multi-agency coordination, community participation, and robust infrastructural and logistical support to tackle disaster risks and improve service delivery under Mission Basundhara.
