The principal of the Academy, Srimanta Borthakur, highlighted Mirza Ghalib’s profound understanding of human psychology and his intricate yet lucid style of writing that set him apart in Urdu literature. Ghalib’s poems and shayaris are characterised by a rare combination of elegance and simplicity. Guest speaker Hamida Begum, a retired professor from Demow College, spoke about the life and times of Mirza Ghalib. Another speaker, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, shed light on Ghalib’s poems, describing them as a wonderful blend of mysticism, Sufism, humanism, and realism in the Urdu language. In his speech, Subhasish Borthakur, a teacher, emphasized that Urdu, although the mother tongue of over 23 crore Muslims, is not exclusive to Muslims, similar to Sanskrit, and should be embraced by anyone with a literary taste.

The event featured readings of Ghalib’s poems and shayaris by Bidisha Rjguru, Angelika Gogoi, and Rameisha Rounak Ulla. The program aimed to pay tribute to Mirza Ghalib’s literary legacy and promote Urdu literature beyond linguistic boundaries.
