NAGAON, Jan 12: NABARD Regional Office in Guwahati sponsored a 3-day training programme for developing PACS (GPSS) as Multi-Service Centres (MSCs) in Hojai district from January 8 to January 10, 2025, here.
The programme was successfully conducted by the Manpower Development & Management Institute (MDMI). Over 42 participants belonging to various GPSS & newly promoted MPACS have attended the training, wherein they have been taught about the assessment of business potential under farm & non-farm sectors, diversification of activities, self-analysis based on SWOT parameters, developing as Multipurpose PACS, non-fund business opportunities like storage, processing, marketing, etc.
The programme was inaugurated by the MDMI director B K Thadani in the presence of their other officials as well as other faculty members.
During the event, the ARCS, Hojai Deepak Bathari, SRCS, Imdad Ali and othes also shared their views as faculty support.
The valedictory & certificate distribution ceremony was held in the presence of DDM, NABARD, Rajendar Perna, the ARCS, Hojai, MDMI deputy director K K Kalita and assistant director G Choudhary.
While addressing the participants, the DDM, NABARD stated that NABARD being the supervising entity for Rural Cooperative Banks, has been supporting the overall development of the cooperative sector through training of Cooperative Banks/GPSS personnel, introduction of various schemes like PACS as MSC, Rural Haats, JLG promotion, exposure visits to best performing Cooperatives, etc.
He also highlighted the pivotal role being played by NABARD regarding the computerisation of PACS and Go-Live of their day-to-day operations. He informed the participants that the present training programme is being supported under the scheme of financial assistance for training cooperative bank’s personnel (SOFTCOB) of NABARD and suggested the officials to devise a suitable ‘Family Credit Plan’ based on the needs of all the members of a shareholder’s family and support them through appropriate credit & other products.
The deputy director of MDMI, K K Kalita expressed his sincere gratitude to NABARD for supporting such training programmes for the development of a knowledge base of cooperative personnel. During the valedictory session, all the new MPACS have been provided with their Registration Certificates at the hands of DDM, NABARD, the ARCS, Hojai, the deputy director, MDMI & others.
