BOKAJAN, Jan 25: A large quantity of opium was recovered from a 12 wheeler truck bearing registration number HP 20 H 7866 on January 24 afternoon while conducting routine naka checking on NH-29 at 6th Mile near Forest beat office at about 3pm.
The truck was coming from Dimapur side was thoroughly searched in presence of independent witnesses and the police recovered 16 packets of suspected opium weighing total 16.220 kg from the secret chamber built behind the driver’s seat.
The driver and his associates namely Sukhjinder Singh, son of lt Karam Singh resident of W/No. 5, Una police station, Una district, Himachal Pradesh and Prem Narayan Chamar, son of Nandalal Chamar, resident of Ron, Gadakota police station, Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh were apprehended. Further investigation is underway.
