DIPHU, July 13: PHED, Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah chaired a Review meeting on the status of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (G) in Karbi Anglong District with the officials of District Administration, PHED, and DWSM at the conference hall of Arboretum cum Craft Centre, here.
Later, informing the media, the minister said, “We had held a crucial discussion with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authority, District Administration, and officials of PHED on the implementation of JJM in the two hill districts. We have made an important decision to provide 55 litres of water per person to every household every day. We have targeted that by 2024, potable water should reach every household.”
Baruah also said, “Various issues and problems in implementing the JJM in the hill districts were discussed. It is our responsibility to provide sufficient potable water to the rural masses.”
Baruah requested that the MP and MLAs extend their support for the implementation of JJM.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang; MP Horensing Bey; deputy speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, Numal Momin; MLAs; executive members of KAAC; Members of the Autonomous Council; and DCs of both districts.
