GUWAHATI, Nov 6: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been tirelessly engaged in ensuring the protection and safety of Railway property and passengers, actively combating criminals and human trafficking on the N.F. Railway. From January to October 2023, the RPF on NFR successfully rescued 623 minors (427 boys and 196 girls) during regular checks and operations conducted on various trains and railway stations.
Operational activities and checks were conducted across major railway stations such as New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Guwahati, Agartala, Rangiya, Katihar, Dimapur, New Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Rangapara North, Mariani, and more. The RPF not only conducts rescues but also apprehended 16 individuals involved in human trafficking during this period.
Upon rescuing minors, the RPF of NFR takes meticulous steps to reunite the rescued children with their families, following all verification procedures according to established norms. Collaborating closely with Childline and various NGOs, the RPF identifies minors who have run away from their homes or have fallen victim to human traffickers, ensuring their safe return.
The Ministry of Railways has actively overseen various operations and campaigns on the N.F. Railway, emphasizing initiatives aimed at tracing missing children and reuniting them with their families. Furthermore, preventive measures are consistently implemented to address and aid children in need of care and protection encountered on trains and railway premises.
