Since 2007 Ram Navami has been celebrated at the Dirok Tea Estate in Margherita in Tinsukia district every year. During the occasion a mass wedding ceremony was also organised for underprivileged youths of the tea tribe community this year, where a total of 31 couples got married.
Binud Munda member of the Ram Navami reception committee said that the festival, which began on April 17 concluded on Sunday with a huge religious rally attended by about 5000 people.
“Many people from the tea tribe community are getting converted to other religions. Through this festival we have tried to bring the brothers and sisters on one platform so that our civilization, culture, tradition and religious beliefs remain intact,” said Munda.
