TEZPUR, Jan 10: MLA Tezpur Prithiraj Rabha and district commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra actively participated in the second day of the 2nd phase of Gunotsav, a program aimed at assessing the performance of schools. The self-evaluation phase, covering 1105 schools in Sonitpur district, began with great enthusiasm on Wednesday.
As part of the program, district commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra visited the Tezpur Government Higher Secondary School, founded in 1868, a heritage institution associated with eminent figures of Assamese society, literature, and culture. Mishra engaged in the morning assembly, urging everyone to preserve the school’s rich legacy. MLA Tezpur and SMDC president Prithiraj Rabha interacted with students and also visited other schools, including Bengali Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Memorial Primary, and Ouguri LP School.
Gunotsav, scheduled until January 12, involves external evaluators appointed by the government assessing the schools. The first day of the program commenced at distinguished institutions like Tezpur Silver Jubilee Primary School, Tezpur Government Higher Secondary School, Tezpur Government Girls Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Tezpur Rashtrabhasha Vidyalaya, Tezpur Collegiate Higher Secondary School, Tezpur Academy, and others. The day included various activities such as newspaper reading, oath-taking, physical exercises, speeches, and the presentation of the national anthem by students.
A total of 558 external evaluators, including participants from Udalguri and Nagaon districts, along with college teachers and government officers, will assess the performance of 1,31,207 students in 1105 schools. VVIPs will also participate as external evaluators, observing all aspects of Gunotsav, interacting with students, and attending lunch. The self-evaluation phase, conducted throughout the day, involved presidents and office bearers of the management and development committee of the respective schools on Tuesday.
