Two youths drown at Wara Ghat in Tirap River

MARGHERITA, Sept 19: Tension enveloped the Margherita sub-division on Tuesday afternoon when a tragic incident unfolded at Wara Ghat on the Tirap River in Jagun. Two young lives were lost in a heart-wrenching accident.

The incident occurred at Wara Ghat on the Tirap River when two spirited youths ventured into the waters for a bath. The unfortunate victims have been identified as Avir Sengupta, hailing from Ledo Rod Gaon, and Gaurav Roy, a resident of Bargolai in the 124th Margherita Constituency of Tinsukia district.

In the wake of the tragedy, local youths rallied together to launch a rescue operation, successfully recovering the lifeless bodies of Avir Sengupta and Gaurav Roy from the Tirap River.

Upon receiving the news, a team from the Jagun Police promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Subsequently, the bodies were transported to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

The heart-wrenching incident unfolded when a group of six young individuals from Bargolai and Ledo decided to enjoy some leisure time at Wara Ghat on the Tirap River in Jagun. Tragically, what began as a day of fun turned into an unspeakable tragedy, claiming the lives of Avir Sengupta and Gaurav Roy, leaving their friends and families devastated.

The sorrowful event has cast a pall of gloom over the Margherita sub-division of Tinsukia, as the community grapples with the loss of these promising young lives.
