GUWAHATI, Feb 14: Over 1000 prominent participants, including thought leaders, educators, top IT firm executives, and policymakers from at least four countries, are set to convene at two consecutive future skills conferences aimed at spotlighting new opportunities for Northeastern youths in cutting-edge technologies.
Union minister for state for electronics and II, skill development and entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrashekar, will inaugurate the Digital India Future Skills Summit, to be held at Guwahati University on Thursday. Organized by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NEILIT) Guwahati, with support from the Union ministry of electronics and IT, this summit marks the first such initiative in the Northeast. Dr. Y. Jayanta Singh, Executive Director, NEILIT Guwahati, highlighted the summit’s focus on digital literacy aligned with industry demands, emphasizing its role in shaping India’s digitally empowered future society.
Subhanshu Tiwari, executive director and OSD to DG, NIELIT, revealed that the summit would feature panel discussions on cyber security, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and future skills. With over 25 speakers, including four global experts, attendees will also explore innovative exhibitions and witness strategic collaborations between NEILIT and leading tech firms such as Intel, HCL, Microsoft, Kindryl, and academic institutions like IIM Raipur and IITM Gwalior.
Furthermore, the International Conference on Communication, Electronics, and Digital Technologies (NICEDT-2024), scheduled for February 16 and 17, will mark the second international-level conference organized by NIELIT, the first in the Northeast. Expected to receive over 200 papers covering subjects like artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, cyber security, and advanced computing, the conference will feature international speakers, further enriching the discourse on future technologies. Both events aim to harness the potential of Northeastern youths by providing them with insights, collaborations, and opportunities in emerging technologies, thus propelling India into a technologically advanced future.
