GUWAHATI, Sept 4: In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, the services of the tri-weekly Train no 15612/15611 (Silchar – Guwahati – Silchar) Express have been extended up to Rangiya in both directionson Monday. To mark this extension, Bhubaneswar Kalita, MP (Rajya Sabha); Dilip Saikia, MP (Lok Sabha); and Bhabesh Kalita, MLA/Rangiya, flagged off the inaugural run of the train from Rangiya Railway Station. The extension of this train service is expected to benefit passengers who frequently travel from Cachar to lower Assam for various purposes. Additionally, residents of the Cachar area will have the convenience of traveling to the north bank of the Brahmaputra via Rangiya Junction, a significant interchange point for train passengers.
As part of this extension, Train no 15611 (Rangiya – Silchar) Express will depart from Rangiya at 15:45 hours on every Monday, Thursday & Saturday starting from September 4, and arrive in Silchar at 04:40 hours on the following day. In the return direction, Train no 15612 (Silchar – Rangiya) Express will depart from Silchar at 22:15 hours on every Wednesday, Friday & Sunday starting from September 6, 2023, and reach Rangiya at 10:30 hours on the next day.
This extended train route will include stops at Changsari, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Chaparmukh Jn., Hojai, Lumding Jn., New Haflong, Badarpur Jn., and Katakhal stations. The train will consist of 14 coaches, offering AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, sleeper class, and second-class seating options for passengers.
