Noted pediatrician passes away

NAGAON, March 6: Dr Robindra Nath Saikia, an octogenarian pediatrician and resident of Fauzdaripatty in Nagaon town, passed away at a hospital in Guwahati last night on Wednesday.

He was 88 years old at the time of his demise.

Dr Saikia, popularly known as R N Saikia in Nagaon, was a well-known figure in the district.

As a pediatrician, he had earned a reputation for his expertise and dedication to his profession.

He was also actively involved in various social and cultural activities in Nagaon.

Dr Saikia was a lifetime member of the Nagaon Kala Mandir, a prominent cultural organisation in the district.

He was also associated with various other organisations and institutions in Nagaon.

The news of Dr Saikia’s demise has sent shockwaves throughout Nagaon, with various organisations and institutions expressing their condolences.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Nagaon branch, and the Communist Party of India (CPI), Nagaon district council, among others, have mourned the loss of Dr Saikia.

Dr Saikia’s mortal remains will be brought to his residence in Nagaon after his son arrives from his foreign residence.

His last rites will be performed in the morning, according to family sources.

Dr Saikia is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

His passing has left a void in the medical community and social circles of Nagaon town.
