Officials accompanying the team included Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS), Kaliabor, Probin Borah; Branch Manager of Assam Cooperative Apex Bank (ACAB), Silghat branch, Niranjan Ch Das; representatives of the National Level PACS Software Vendor; and the appointed System Integrator.
Addressing the participants, General Manager Qamar Javed highlighted that the PACS computerisation project is a key component of the Government of India’s efforts to enhance efficiency, transparency, accountability, and uniformity in cooperative operations.
He underlined that the initiative is aligned with the broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan and aims to make PACS financially viable and self-reliant.
NABARD, he said, is acting as an implementing agency under the guidance of the Ministry of Cooperation and the National Level Monitoring and Implementation Committee (NLMIC), ensuring that the project reaches grassroots-level institutions effectively.
As part of the visit, special training sessions were conducted for farmer members and the Boards of Directors (BoDs) of both GPSS units.
These sessions aimed to familiarise stakeholders with the features and benefits of the computerisation project and its potential to transform cooperative societies into modern, efficient institutions.
During the interaction, the GM urged the BoDs to diversify their operations and explore new areas of activity that could bring added benefits to farmer members and improve institutional sustainability.
The ARCS, Kaliabor, spoke on the significance of the initiative and assured full support from the cooperative department in completing pending audits and ensuring compliance with project timelines.
He also emphasised the need for greater awareness among farmers to optimise the benefits of the digital transition.
Chairpersons, CEOs, and farmer members of both GPSS units expressed optimism about the project’s potential and pledged their support for its successful implementation.
They also highlighted the importance of collaborative support from NABARD and other agencies for sustained growth.
The programme concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to transform both GPSS units into fully operational ePACS by September 15, 2025, marking a major milestone in the digitisation of cooperative credit institutions in the district.
