TAWANG, July 8, 2025: The third quarterly meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) for Tawang district was convened on Tuesday at the NIC Conference Hall in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, with Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju chairing the session virtually.
According to an official statement, the meeting was attended in person by Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, IAS, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu, and heads of departments responsible for implementing various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) across the district.
DC Angmo opened the session with a welcome address, underlining the importance of the DISHA platform in facilitating collaborative oversight of development programmes and resolving field-level challenges in implementation.
She emphasized that such review forums help strengthen administrative accountability and accelerate the delivery of welfare schemes to the grassroots.
ZPC Chairperson Leki Gombu, in his remarks, briefed the Union Minister about the findings and discussions from the recent District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting held over two days on June 30 and July 1.
He assured that the district remained committed to efficient, transparent execution of all government-funded projects and expressed gratitude to Rijiju for taking time out of his parliamentary schedule to participate virtually.
Addressing the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju reiterated his commitment as Chairman of DISHA to the overall development of all 17 districts under his Lok Sabha constituency.
He regretted being unable to attend the previous review meeting due to prior engagements but affirmed his close involvement with grassroots development monitoring.
He lauded the district administration for maintaining high standards in fund utilisation and implementation efficiency.
“Tawang has consistently demonstrated strong performance in executing government schemes. I appreciate the district officials and elected representatives for upholding transparency and timely delivery of benefits to the public,” he said.
A comprehensive review of the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes followed, led by Tenzin Jambey, Assistant Commissioner-cum-Ex-Officio Deputy Director (Rural Development).
Through a detailed PowerPoint presentation, Jambey outlined progress across key sectors, highlighting both milestones achieved and challenges encountered.
The discussion covered sectors such as rural housing, drinking water supply, health infrastructure, education, road connectivity, and livelihood promotion under flagship national programmes.
The review also served as a feedback mechanism for departments to realign their operational strategies to ensure compliance with timelines and performance benchmarks.
The meeting concluded with actionable directives from the DISHA Chairman and reaffirmed commitments from departmental heads to expedite project execution with an emphasis on transparency, citizen participation, and optimal use of public resources.
The official statement noted that the third quarter review had further reinforced coordination among district-level institutions, ensuring that Tawang stays on track to meet its development goals and improve quality of life for its residents.
