TAWANG, July 1: A two-day District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting was held on June 30 and July 1, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Tawang to assess the progress of various ongoing developmental projects and welfare schemes in the district.
The meeting, according to an official statement, aimed at strengthening inter-departmental coordination and addressing implementation challenges to ensure timely delivery of public services.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Tawang, Namgyal Angmo, IAS, and witnessed the presence of Zila Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) Leki Gombu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Lungla, Tashi Dhondup, ADC Jang Sub-Division, Hakraso Kri, and Heads of Departments (HoDs) from various executing agencies.
In her opening remarks, DC Angmo emphasized the importance of expediting ongoing work within the region’s limited working season, while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.
She urged departments to set achievable deadlines and work in tandem to overcome logistical and administrative hurdles.
“The working season in Tawang is short due to climatic constraints. Hence, timely and efficient execution of projects is crucial. Departments must function in coordination to ensure every project sees completion within its scheduled timeline without compromising on quality,” the Deputy Commissioner stated.
ZPC Leki Gombu, while acknowledging the developmental efforts across the district, stressed the need to improve access to financial support and welfare entitlements at the grassroots.
He called for a special meeting with all banks operating in the district to ensure timely disbursement of loans to eligible beneficiaries and urged the district administration to play a proactive role in streamlining access to government schemes.
During the two-day session, representatives from various departments presented status reports and PowerPoint presentations on centrally-sponsored schemes, state-funded projects, and flagship initiatives of both the Prime Minister and chief minister.
Departments also highlighted key achievements, bottlenecks in implementation, and suggestions for improvement.
The review covered a wide array of sectors including infrastructure, health, education, rural development, agriculture, drinking water and sanitation, and social welfare.
Specific attention was paid to progress under schemes such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), MGNREGA, and state-sponsored welfare initiatives.
The forum served as a vital platform for discussion, where departments shared best practices, raised operational concerns, and sought support from other stakeholders in resolving persistent issues.
Matters concerning fund allocation, labour availability, contractor mobilisation, and public outreach were deliberated upon with a focus on result-oriented planning.
Concluding the meeting, the DLMC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, timely execution, and people-centric governance.
It stressed that all welfare measures and developmental works must directly benefit citizens, particularly those in remote and underserved areas.
The official statement from the district administration noted that such review meetings would be held at regular intervals to monitor progress, address gaps, and ensure optimum utilisation of resources in Tawang district.
