Assam: 4-month-old dies of swine flu in Cachar, second death within 72 hours

Cachar, May 8: A four-month-old infant from Uttar Krishnapur, Cachar district, Assam, passed away due to swine flu, as reported on Wednesday.

The baby was admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on April 12 after being diagnosed with the flu. The baby succumbed to the illness while receiving treatment on Tuesday night.

This marks the second swine flu death in a single week in Assam, following the loss of a toddler in Hailakandi on May 5. To prevent further contagion, authorities have declared a high alert across Hailakandi.
