Guwahati, May 8: In a disturbing turn of events, Mridul Boro, a commando jawan serving with the Assam Police, fell prey to a robbery while aboard a train journey from Dibrugarh to Guwahati.
The incident unfolded as an unidentified perpetrator, who remains at large, allegedly administered sedative-laced tea to Boro, rendering him unconscious before proceeding to pilfer all his possessions. Hailing from Bejeni village in Sonapur under the Kamrup Metro District, Boro shared his traumatic encounter with Pratidin Time.
Narrating the sequence of events, Boro recounted boarding the general coach of the Rajendra Nagar Terminal Weekly Express early last Monday morning, only to discover the compartment sparsely populated. Engaging in conversation with a fellow passenger purporting to be traveling to Chaparmukh, Boro accepted a cup of tea offered by the stranger. Shortly after consuming the beverage, Boro began experiencing severe discomfort and subsequently lost consciousness.
Upon regaining consciousness, Boro found himself disoriented at Katihar railway station in Bihar, having been stripped of his mobile phone, cash, and essential documents. Despite the distressing ordeal, Boro managed to navigate his way back to Kamakhya railway station aboard the Kamakhya Capital Express, arriving late last night.
