NAGAON, Aug 8: Amidst the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, based on specific inputs, a police team from Dhing PS arrested a Bangladeshi national identified as Humayun Kabir from Lathi Mathurtol Bazar in Sylhet district, Bangladesh, at the Dhing cattle market on Thursday afternoon. He, along with three local youths, was negotiating with a cattle trader for purchasing cattle.
Sources claimed that the police team immediately apprehended all of them and recovered over 9 cattle from their possession. The other three youths arrested have been identified as Motibur Rahman, Abul Hussain of Geruati, and Makbul Hussain of Gerukamukh under Khatowal PS in the district, sources added.
During interrogation, the arrested Bangladeshi youth stated that he entered Indian territory by crossing the border via Dawki in Meghalaya on August 4, offering a bribe of Rs 500 to the on-duty Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. He then reached Borghat in Nagaon on August 6, from where he was taken to Geruati by the other three youths from Geruati and Gerukamukh under Khatowal PS. Based on his statement, police immediately launched a search operation in Geruati village, during which the Dhing PS police team recovered his mobile phone containing two SIM cards, sources further stated.
Meanwhile, Dhing police have registered a case in this regard, and further investigation is ongoing, sources added.
