BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 6: Following the directive of the state government, Biswanath College observed Bhasha Gaurav Saptah on Wednesday at the Arts Building 1, featuring a series of programs. The day-long event, convened by the IQAC cell in collaboration with the magazine department of the students’ union, witnessed a strong turnout and enthusiastic participation from the student community.
The college authorities organised a workshop on spelling. Additionally, competitions such as letter writing and essay writing were held among the students. Balin Bhuyan, an assistant professor in the Assamese department, delivered a lecture on ‘Assamese Language: Past, Present, and Future’, with Leena Hazarika presiding over the session.
Earlier, Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, principal of the college, inaugurated the session, with Dr Naresh Thakur, coordinator of IQAC, conducting the proceedings.
It is worth mentioning that Bhasha Gaurav Saptah is observed to honour the recognition of the Assamese language as a classical language by the central government. Faculty members from various departments, students of the college, and other attendees were present for the program.
