KOKRAJHAR, Aug 18: A six-member delegation from the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), led by chief executive member Pramod Boro, embarked on a fact-finding mission to Chhattisgarh to study the Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) model implemented by the Chhattisgarh government. The delegation’s visit on Thursday aimed to gain insights into the operations and impact of RIPA centres in generating local employment opportunities for youth and self-help groups (SHGs) in the state.
The delegation extensively toured three distinct RIPA centres situated in the Raipur district to comprehend the operational intricacies and pivotal role of these centres in promoting local entrepreneurship. The team consisted of deputy CEM Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, BTC secretary Jatin Bora, and other senior government officials.
Of significance, RIPA centres facilitate the local production of various consumables such as namkeen, cakes, biscuits, and essential household items like detergents and agarbattis. Notably, Chhattisgarh has established 300 such centres across the state, each costing around Rs 2 crores and spanning an area of 4-5 acres.
During their visit, the BTR delegation engaged with RIPA office bearers and working members to exchange insights and experiences in the realm of development and rural entrepreneurship. Chief executive member Pramod Boro conveyed that the BTR government is fervently working to bolster employment opportunities for the region’s youth. In line with this vision, plans are underway to establish similar Rural Industrial Centres akin to RIPA to invigorate local entrepreneurship and stimulate job creation.
“We are also planning to set up similar rural industrial centres to boost our local entrepreneurship & jobs, and give impetus to the rural economy in Bodoland Territorial Region,” said Boro, underscoring the pivotal role such initiatives play in shaping the economic landscape of the region.
