CEM Pramod Boro launches e-office management system at BTC Secretariat

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 25: In a noteworthy development for the Bodoland Territorial Region government, chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro ceremonially launched the e-office management system at a program held at BTC Secretariat, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar. The government of BTR becomes the first Sixth Schedule Council to adopt this system, following the Government of Assam.

CEM Boro highlighted that the e-office framework will not only expedite development processes but also ensure efficiency among officers. He mentioned that e-office implementation marks a new era of smart governance for the benefit of the nearly thirty-five lakh citizens residing in the five districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He outlined the importance of embracing new governance measures to address the aspirations of the people of Bodoland.

All officers of the Bodoland Territorial Council have been provided with dedicated personal login identities and digital signatures, and over 65,000 files from 55 departments, branches, and cells of the BTC Secretariat have been digitised. Personal Information Management System (PIMS) data for all, including the chief executive member, executive members, and BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker, has been prepared to streamline the e-office operations.

Bhaskarjyoti Rajbongshi, joint secretary of BTC government, mentioned that the IT infrastructure is being upgraded to meet the new demands of e-governance. The lay out of the Local Area Network (LAN) in the BTC Secretariat was carried out through NICSI, a subsidiary company of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.

Hands-on training was conducted in the e-Lab set up at the BTC Secretariat by the roll out team and master trainers. A state-of-the-art record room has also been constructed to store files scientifically. A team of 8 master trainers was selected from BTC Secretariat staff and trained by the e-office team of Assam Secretariat (Civil) in Dispur to monitor the process in the initial phase of implementation.

E-Office is a Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the National e-Governance Programme of the government. The product is developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and aims to bring about more efficient, effective, and transparent inter-government and intra-government transactions and processes.
