DALGAON, Sept 9: The long-awaited issue of the Bechimari-Daipam connecting road appears to be
resolved. The road had been in a dilapidated state for a long time, causing hardships for the general
public. MLA Mazibur laid the foundation stone for the road on Saturday in Bechimari. The construction
of the road, measuring 6.300 km in length and 7.5 meters wide, will cost Rs 7.1 crore and is being carried
out under the PMSY Scheme.
This road is one of the busiest in the entire Darrang fistrict in rural areas. The construction of the road is
expected to reduce traffic congestion in the market area. Additionally, a bridge will be constructed over
the Kakalbhangi River west of Bechimari town.

It was noted that some business establishments had encroached on both sides of the road. MLA
Mazibur emphasised the need to clear the sides to widen the road for the public’s benefit. He made it
clear that there would be no compromise on road widening, and if necessary, these business
establishments would be bulldozed.
